Blasted Fulcrum Cotter Pin!

Major swear words given to the fulcrum cotter pins! I've used a file and a belt sander to try and whittle it down, but I'm no where close to having it drop down far enough to put the nut on the threads. Has anyone ever been able to use one out of the box without modification?

I never had trouble getting them to fit, but I've heard of plenty of people that have.

The right side pin is now ruined. I took too much off, so now I get to order a new one. Left side went right in without any modifications or problem.

I found that it wasn't so much the new pin as the hole in the bottom of the king pin. I found that the grinder set that fits the dremel which is made to sharpen chain saws fits in that hole very nicely and cleans it up enough to slide the pin in. Be careful as you will find it only takes about one pass. You can get this at Home Depot for a couple of bucks.
