My Dad has a Miata for just this reason. Easy on the maintenance and reliable as all get out. He doesn't want to work on it...he wants to get in it and go. Has 100,00 miles on it now.
Knowing this, when he was looking for a sports car I suggested he steer clear of the older Brit cars....sorry guys. But, he did own a new TR7 when they first came out and traded it in on a new TR8....with a warranty
Nothing wrong with a newer, fun, low maintenance drop top. But nothing beats the Triumph character IMHO.
