Wedge Black TR8 Sweeeet......

crikey; if they are worth that much, i'm going to sell mine...

Alan, over the last 6 months, the selling prices have gone up quite a bit.

This car was on ebay a couple weeks ago at $14K and got no bids. The reson, I believe is because it's very likely a TR7/8 conversion. I asked for a full shot of the engine compartment instead of the curious shot of the top of the air cleaner - no response. Asked why the battery was moved from the trunk to the engine compartment - his response was "safety" (???) I finally just asked if this was a 7/8 conversion and have gotten no reply. Draw your own conclusions.

I have nothing against 7/8 conversions IF they're well done, but they shouldn't be advertised as true 8's. If this is really an 8, I hope he gets his $16K.

And then, there's this ...

I agree with Cheapsnake. I did a search on wwwedge registry and this cars Vin. appears to match up to a TR7. TPLD appears to match up to only TR7s. Maybe Vin. TLPD could match up to a TR8, but I didn't see any on the page I looked at. The car does appear to look great, but if it is a conversion, I do feel the it should be stated.

I could sell him a set of TR8 VIN plates from my parts car???? But its a 1980 so the medallion on the nose would be incorrect.

I think he re-wrote the description from the first time it was listed. It does state that the "Conversion was completed last year." He also claims the TR8 parts are "factory original". So the conversion could be using original TR8 parts on a TR7 that was in better shape body wise.

FOR SALE 1980 TRIUMPH TR8 CONVERTIBLE.CONVERSION COMPLETED LAST YEAR

Don't think he's hiding it very well if he stated it in the second line of the description. Now the price might well be out of line and his pictures might leave something to be be desired.........
He also might not be aware of the investment/return black hole that all classic cars feature and actually believe he can recoup the expense-hahahahahahahahahahah
