Does anyone know what paint to use on the rockerpanels for the TR7/TR8? Its a textured (flat?)black paint /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif. Also, where can it be purchased?
 
I don't know about the rocker panels, but I used a satin black on the finishing panel under the windshield. It may not be correct,but it looks good. I used aerovoe satin black, but Eastwood products sells a satin black on line. Rimmer Brothers may be able to answer your questiion since they sell the panels?
 
My cars have the orignal untouched paint on them and its a glossy black. Whats odd is that my 7 is textured like yours but the 8s are smooth, hummmmm?
 
Then smooth it is...My fathers 81 TR7 is smooth and the TR7/8 restoration book shows a semi-matt black. It doesn't say anything about textured. Also, thought I might add that my TR8 was made in Canley if that makes a difference..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
My experience is that cars with textured rockers (sills) can be hiding rusty sills and bondo. Before you get too far into planning refinishing, you may want to investigate the integrity of the sills.
