My bj8 came without a tacho, I am not quite sure how to fit the white wire loop, i see in a picture by Yoda that for a posative ground earthing that the loop is in a clockwise direction, but which of the 2 wires either entering or leaving the loop is the one from the ignition switch? Also it looks as if there is a plastic encapsulator for the wires, is this correct and is there any other bit i am missing here? thanks Saltiga

FWIW

Hook it up and see if it works
if not cut the white wires without removing the loop from the Tach and reverse their connetion
now see if it works. If not you may have other problems

Thanks for the suggestion, I was not sure if it would do damage to the tacho, my experiences with electronic devices is that they can be touchy things and dont take to any wrong hookups. Although this is only a magnetic field it senses it should ,I repeat should, not cause any harm. I will give it a go when I finally start the engine Many thanks Saltiga
