Can someone tell me the dimensions of the tonneau cover storage bag for a BJ8? I assume it is just black vinyl like the storage bag for the convertible top boot.

Anthony,
I hope that you've got the farm all planted with corn when I take possession of it. Actually, I am just looking for the dimensions of an original storage bag, to copy it.

Hi Skip,

Here's the dimensions for the bag that came with my original BJ7 Tonneau. There are some slight differences between the BJ7 and BJ8 tonneau but I'm guessing the bags should be the same.

tonneau storage bag dimensions.

Cheers,
John

shorn, just bustin em, last night i purchased a sewing machine for doing heavy material leather, canvas, vinyl, etc so i can make such projects on my own. and i do all the general sewing in my family with my regular machine. a friend just had a new zipper put into his bug eye tonneau cover and it cost him $125.00 thats about 1/2 the price of the machine, two summers ago a guy gave me a price of $400.00 to fix the "bimi" cover for my boat when i could buy a new one for $180.00, they charge a fortune for this kind of work and i really dig sewing. hay! this might turn into another business, ah what color would ya like? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/savewave.gif

John,
I just made one for my BJ8 and it is significantly different that the BJ7 as shown in your drawing. I am not 100 % positive that I had the original bag for a pattern so I will let others comment about the correct size for a BJ8. You got to have a fairly heavy duty sewing machine to sew the nawga's hide pieces together. I could just barely get it to sew that stuff.

Ed,
I guess I copied a replacement. The cover fits in there nice but If I ever have to do it again, I'll use your dimensions.

Heritage Trim has the right vinyl material if you plan to roll your own or they sell the bags complete if Anthony doesn't go into business (watch out if your machine is the walking foot type .. don't want to stitch your fingers together!).

The original English vinyl is rather thin and flexible .. not like your typical American Nauga's hide. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

As you may be able to see from the photo, the bag is sewn inside out and the cotton tie strap is sewn in across the entire top of the flap. The originals also were marked with white grease pen but unfortunately, mine is now unreadable.

Cheers,
John

I actually have the original storage bag for the top boot, so I am able to see the vinyl type and stitching on that. Now if I can just get my wife to sit down at the sewing machine.
