Last week, an owner in France was finally able to establish the true identity of his car, which has been registered with an incorrect VIN for the last 20 years. The registry provided advice on where to find the appropriate evidence, and some guidance on how to get the car re-registered with its correct number.
Effectively, i think it's my car

First, i send informations on my car to be added to the registry with all the number i have, includind the wrong vin number which is in my official french registration paper.
Steve indicate me that my VIN number must be incorrect with the caracteristics of my car (shrould lights not separate that don't be good with the VIN number, etc...) .
With the motor and body number, Steve find a VIN number that must be the one of the car, number that we confirmed with the number on the shock tower.
Actually, i try to modify the VIN number on my registration certificate, but it's not so easy in french... Maybe i can do the change, maybe not but now, thanks to steve, I know the correct VIN number of my car and I know that the engine goes with the body and the only inconsistency is the VIN number
Steve was very helpful to identifiate that, to inform me that my engine number plate and body number plate were certainly original one (but also the VIN plate with not the good VIN number for my car).
I find also that this will be very interesting to know more of other cars, but i find also that if the numbers where available for everyone, it will be very easy to remake some matching numbers cars with numbers that are not identify actually. So, I prefer someone (and Steve was/is very helpful with me and my car with wrong number) to give information when the request rather than everything available and I would not have saved my car if everyone could have the information on the net...
there is not necessarily a perfect solution but this one can at least ensure that the information shall not be public
