BJ8 Rear Seat Back Carpeting?

Hi folks,

I've searched high and low, and through the concours guidlines and came up empty. I'm repairing the rear seat back folding assembly and recovering it on my BJ8. The original had a black carpet on the sections that are hidden when folded up, but visible when the seat back is folded down in "parcel shelf" position.

Is that carpet supposed to be the same color as the rest of the carpet in the car, or always black?

Also, do you know of any place to get that piece or is it a standard part of the carpet kits?

Thanks,
Chris

If your carpet set is black including the interior the sqab carpet is black too. It was included in the last two carpet kits I purchased.

Ok thanks. My carpet will be blue when I order it...which apparently needs to be sooner rather than later. May I ask who you bought your kits from? None of the usual suspects online catalogs show the squab carpet as part of the set.

The last carpet set I bought was from Sports & Classics in the late '70's. I would call the carpet suppliers and ask them if it's included even though it's not shown. I believe there's a vinyl strip in the middle of the fold of the squab carpet so it's a piece that has to be fabricated.
