BJ8 rear brake drums

Can anyone tell me the specs for the rear brake drums on a BJ8 (probably the same as earlier models). Not sure how many times mine have been turned and it is almost impossible to adjust properly with new linings.

Your BJ8 drums are the same as all of the earlier drums. I would give you odds that your drums have never been turned - I assume you did not have them turned. Did you have your newly lined shoes matched to the curvature of your drums? If not, that may be your problem.

MG TF 1500 value?

I have a chance to an MG TF with the 1500 in it. Its a clean unrestored car with orig. drivetrain and interior , hard to tell about the paint . What's the market like for this car? Thanks, Kevin

Re: MG TF 1500 value?

still looking for what the diameter measurement should be on a new BJ8 rear brake drum, it anyone knows.

Re: MG TF 1500 value?

A 1500 is the one to have. The price depends on many things...body timbers, original wings and numbers of motor and trans, etc. Many items can be switched out with TD bits.

Re: MG TF 1500 value?

The drum diameter is 11 inches.

Re: MG TF 1500 value?

Brinkerhoff,
A nicely restored TF 1500 should fetch about $35000. An original car could be worth more depending on condition. Be sure it is an original 1500 engine, not just any 1500 but a TF 1500 as this engine is particular to this car only. The engine number is on a brass octagon tag on the right side of the engine. It should be an XPEG not an XPAG engine. Check that the numbers match the tag on the firewall. The number is also stamped on the left dumb iron that supports the front bumper. Hope this helps and have a good day!

John
