BJ8 Phase I Console Help

Gearhead_Garage

The Phase I BJ8s had a small console armrest. My console was deteriorated so it was rebuilt and I am pretty sure the interior guy didn't put the latch on correctly.

- Did the latch attach to the top or inside the box?
- What did the latch look like? I have a small flat piece of metal with a hook in it. Is this correct?
- How it was oriented and secured?
- Pictures would be really helpful.

Hi Gearhead,

The cubby latch is composed of 3 parts. The magnet is attached to the cover and holds onto a metal bracket within the forward part of the box.

My cubby is has not been modified from the day I purchased the car new so you can be sure.

Good luck,
