Hey y'all,
Haven't left a post in a while as sold my BN4 but getting
ready to purchase a 67 BJ8 from a fellow Healey Club member
AHCUSA who's had it for 35 years. Got some rust issues
but not in the frame or inner body, just the dog legs
and rockers ( and they're not too bad at all). Needs
an interior so here's my question - this was originally
Healey white/ivory with black interior but I was thinking of
going to a red leather interior with red coves - from what
I can gather this was a correct color combo in 67 ? I
would like to keep the original paint color as the basis
but add the painted coves. Also, smokes a bit and leaks
a bit - like that's unusual - and high mileage on the engine
so I'm thinking rings or valve guides ? Otherwise runs
great with good oil pressure. Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Mike - big healey source

Seems to me you don't need no help. Its your car just go do it and don't look back.---Keoke-- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif

I remember seeing several BJ8's when they were new with the white exterior and red interior. In my personal opinion, they looked nicer than with the black interior. You can't go wrong.

Just consulted my restoration manual and it says Red body red interior and red carpet were in fact a ligt combo in 67. Saw white with black coves plus red/red. Did not see White/red with red-red. I have white with red-red and I am considering painting the coves black. I found a web-site that allowed you to pick color combos and I belive it had red coves on white with red on red. I agree with others do what turns you on.

Thanks y'all for the replys. Does anyone have the
color code for Healey Ivory or Old Englsh White ?
Guess while I'm asking, Colorado Red ?
Thanks,
Mike

Mike - per Pikovnik's, Austin Healey, Guide to Historic Colors
old english white "ivory" - ICI-2379, WT.03
colorado red - ICI - 3742, RD.02

good luck

Bob,
Just got a reply today from Steve Byers of the BJ8 Registry.
White exterior, red interior was a common color combination for BJ8's.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! Guess like y'all
recommend, just go with what I think looks the best.

Mike
