BJ8 O/D Question

Country flag
Offline
Have a friends BJ8 at my house and the OD seems to operate strangely, but maybe it is OK and I just don't understand. When driving the OD kicks in just fine with the flip of the toggle, but I also understand that the throttle switch should disconnect the OD when 1/3 depressed. I have adjusted everything and double checked the connections but the OD will not kick out when the toggle switch is on. If I am driving I OD and flip the toggle off, the OD stays engaged until I depress the accelerator 1/3 or more to disengage. Is this the normal procedure? Doesn't seem so to me. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Flip the toggle switch OFF then depress the accelerator pedal.

Totally normal and correct behavior. The overdrive should only kick off when you flip the switch AND depress the accelerator. This is done to prevent damage to the overdrive that could occur if it kicks out when engine braking.
