My carpet kit has padding under the tranny tunnel cover. Is this normal? I have read where people comment that the distance between the tunnel top and the dash is tight for the console. Also is the top face of the console padded? I know the sides are padded but not sure about the top side. Thanks and have a good day!

I have read where people comment that the distance between the tunnel top and the dash is tight for the console

. It could be depending on the cars history of bumps and bruises. But in most cases it can be slid in to place its just a nice snug fit,

Also is the top face of the console padded?----- Lightly. I know the sides are padded but not sure about the top side. Thanks and have a good day!---Keoke

with respect to keoke, my bj8 was one of the few personal exports with factory fit leather, and the console was not fitted with foam on the top, only to the front (around radio) and sides, it is a very thin foam:
