BJ8 Intake Manifold Differences

I am told the intake manifold for the BJ8 is improved over that on earlier cars. Is this correct, and if so can someone provide pictures showing the differences?

The BJ8 project I am looking at purchasing is missing the intake and exhaust manifolds, both of which I understand are difficult to find and expensive, as are aftermarket headers and manifolds.

Other hard to find missing items include door handles and side vent windows.

Thnx

Richard

You might check with Bruce @ Healey Surgeons for some of those parts.

As far as I know, the only 'improvement' of the BJ8 intake manifold is larger size to accommodate the larger HD8 carburettors (it's a crudity by today's standards). I don't know if the intake ports are larger size, but don't believe so. There is at least one aftermarket manifold available from a company in Australia, but it requires side-draft carbs (as opposed the the stock 'semi-downdraft):

Denis Welch makes headers; I'm told they require slight modification to fit.

'Kirk' headers were available, but I don't believe they're still in business. Original parts come up on eBay now and then.

I sent you a PM. I have extras.

The BJ8 intake manifold has a part number that starts with 12B. The carburetor mounting flanges have 2" holes to match the larger HD8 carburetors. The internal passages are larger.
