Moss part # 147 or 470-655, the slider support assembly is the piece that sits under the hood latch support bracket. The slider s.a. has two nuts welded to the bottom. Anyway, there is a circular hole in the center of the slider support assembly where the striker pin fits. On the bottom side of that hole there is a tab on one side of the hole that extends about 1/4 of an inch. Question, should that tab be on the drivers or passenger's side on a LHD car? Yes, I even took pics when I disassembled the latch, but the tab being on the bottom side doesn't show in the pic.

Hi Skip,

I just installed these parts yesterday so it is fresh in my mind. I set mine up with the tab on the left side (driver side). I'm thinking the tab keeps the striker pin from slipping under this part when the slider pushes the pin to one side (because of the spring tension). This way when the slider is released, the pin is free to travel upward .. not catching on the edge of the sheetmetal. If you have the striker pin free you can play around with the mechanism to see how it works. I figured the tab would not be serving any purpose on the right side. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

BTW, it took me awhile to find it but there is small hole on the frame bracket for attaching the tension spring .. I've seen many Healeys with the spring attached all over the place. Let me know if you need a picture.

Cheers,
John
