When I aquired my BJ8 it had already had a failed previous restoration project, and hence I got a lot of parts in boxes. I am slowly working through the parts to restore whatever is salvageable.

Today I dug out the dip switch bracket, which as you can see from the following photos had suffered some abuse, so I set about straightening it out and sandblasting it.

What I would like to know is, as I have straightened the bracket to what I think it should roughly look like, firstly does it look right, and second what should the distance be between the centers of the front and rear mounting holes? I don't want to paint it only to find it needs re-adjusting!

Can't you measure the distance between the corresponding holes in the floor of the car and adjust the bracket to fit?
The top bend from the upper surface to the side is close to a right angle. The lower bend is an obtuse angle I would estimate at about 120-degrees.

That was my first thought, but on going to look at the car a new section of steel has been welded in in this area so there are no holes! I will drop you a reply to your PM when I'm next using a computer as I'm currently posting from an iPhone. Cheers, Dave
 
The backet in my BJ8 is welded on.
In my car the distance between the centres of the boltheads is 5 inch

Thanks guys, can anyone else confirm the 5", on my bracket as it stands the holes are 4 1/2" center to center.

Whilst on the subject of the dip switch, has anyone ever seen a multi-pin plug rather than individual spade connectors on the dip switch connections? The reason I ask is that the spare parts book shows this:

The distance between the mounting holes of the switch bracket is 4-11/16 inches, center to center. If I had a personal webpage, I would post a couple pictures of my switch bracket. If you want to see the pictures, contact me at sbyers@ec.rr.com. The surface to which the switch is attached is curved (shown in one photo). I don't know if the curve is original or not, but the bracket fits the original holes in the floor.

The parts manual wasn't always updated with a drawing of the new part when the part configuration was changed. There are three part numbers given for the BJ8 switch: 88G 440, 37H 1366, and 37H 2099. The part numbers are different because the switch configurations were different from each other in some way. Perhaps one of the part numbers included the wiring pigtail with the connector as shown in the pictorial and the others were the switch (only) without the wiring harness included. Mine has the spades.
