BJ8 - Glove box door lock

I am replacing the wooden dash on my BJ8 (the door was missing when I first got hold of the car) and I need to source a new glove box door lock.
I know these are pretty rare and I see that SC parts sell a repro unit for about £150 (no way). I have seen originals go for about £50 on ebay.

Does anyone know of a substitute lock from another car that may do the job? I am not too bothered about it being an exact fit, just something to plug the hole until I can source an original?

I went through the same problem and finally found out that a Nash Metropolitan uses the same glove box lock. Good luck with your search! I believe I found mine for under $100.

good luck that 100 price had to be awhile ago your lucky if you can find one for around 350 us

The BJ8 glovebox lock is shared with the Cobra and the AC Ace/Bristol. You'll be competing with the Cobra replica guys which drives the price up.
