In the process of stripping the paint on my BJ8, would like to remove the fenders, how is this done, should i do this so when they are painted i can put in new fender bead. Anyone have advise on how to go about prepping the car for paint. Thanks

See the recent MG post re: painting. It gives a step by step process of a good quality paint job. For painting, assuming you are not doing a frame off restoration, the fenders should be loosened and the beading removed. The car should then be striped, primed, sanded and painted. Then new beading replaced between panels as well as an anti corrosion joint strip (available through Moss, Victoria Brit, etc.) and the panels bolted, screwed back together.

Check to see if the car has dum dum between the fenders. If so, that needs to be removed. If you don't, you will have a hard time replacing the fender bead tabs. Primer or paint may get on the dum dum and make it a hard serface, plus pushing the fender bead tabs through the dum dum may or may not work. Risky to the new paint. I have a tread ongoing about this topic. See forum Dum dum for help on this matter.
