BJ8 door hinge milling?

The right hand door is tight on closing side and so much so it touches ever so much with the rear fender. The prior owner welded in new hinge pillars and the front and rear fenders line up perfectly. There is NO shims under the hinges and I thought about perhaps milling the hinge down a bit to get the door to close better. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
 
Sounds like a route I'd take to correct the gap. My only suggestion would be to only mill half (1/2) as much as you think you need on the first pass__and then reassemble to check results.

Take the same amount from both top and bottom hinges (if cutting on the pillar side) to avoid potential binding. If cutting from the door side (which is easier to cut aluminum) binding shouldn't be a concern.

Let us know how it turns out, because I'm pretty sure this has been brought up before, but not attempted.
 
As well as give more gap at the rear removing metal from the hinge will also move the door forward the same amount ! Make sure you have enough gap to start with, so the leading edge of the door doesn't bind the fender when its opened.
