BJ8 door glass replacement

I have to replace the glass in the passenger side door, but I'm not sure how to secure it in the channel. Can anyone give me the proper way to do it?

It just fits in the groove with a rubber glazing strip ...its tight in there . If you dont have a new glazing strip then bicycle inner tube is a good substitute .

Mine were glued in. They won't slip out that way.

I just finished prefitting mine in my BJ7 to make sure everything is right before I paint the car this winter. I ordered the channel felts and plastic or nylon little runner buttoms from Moss. On the top of the channel that is part of the main assembly for the quarter window, there is a rubber stop fastened with a small screw. With the stop removed the windo will just slide up the channel and come all the way off at the top AFTER YOU HAVE REMOVED/RELEASED THE "CATCHING GUIDE" on the bottom of the lower horizontal window frame. That guide is the attaching point for the window regulator arm. It can be removed from the lower window frame by prising it off with a screw driver or you can tap it gently with a small hammer and a small drift. This guide just kind of clips or grips unto the lower window frame. A tip before you remove it, mark its horizontal position on the frame or window glass with a marker or scribe marks on the frame. When you go to reinstall the window and then to tap this guide back on, you don't want the guide to end up in a different horizontal position along the bottom frame. This could happen do to the radial position of the regulator arm depending on if you turned the handle. If the guide is not in the same position, its slider could pop out when raising or lowering the window. So mark it, it will be easier. Dave.

I did mine a few years ago and I used a clear silicone instead of the rubber in the channel - works a treat

The proper way of course is to use the rubber, but I could not get it to work properly.
