Hi everyone,
I am new to BCF and in loking through the past messages, there is a ton of great knowledge floating around! I have had my current BJ-8 for ~18 years but it have only just recently really gotten it back on the road again after lots of electrical, gearbox and wheel problems.
I am trying to get it proerly timed now and have run into a fouling condition with the vacumn line and the oil filter head. I have the point dwell set to 35 degrees but now I cannot rotate the distributor far enough to get to 35 degree BTDC before the vacumn advance bulb hits the oil filter head. I suspect the distributor drive dog off the cam is a tooth or two off and therefore the distributor advance is artificailly biased towards the filter towards the filter.
I have the shop manual that says the drive dog can be simply removed with a 5/16 UNF bolt. Does anyone know if there are any washers that have to be secured when the dog is revomed or can I really just extract the drive and re-install it in the "22" position in the car without pulling the oil pan?
Thanks for any help!
