BJ8 Convertible Top Wood Source?

Hi Gang... thanks for all your help on the speedo angle drive ( I posted a follow-up explaination).

I am finishing up the install of a stayfast convertible top on my BJ8 and on the driver side, the vertical curved wood framing members is a tad punkie. So, much so that my attempt to stretch and tack the top's fabric tabs over it...met with a nice cracking sound and now I have two short curved wood pieces!

I see Moss has the complete wood set at a fairly high price, but all my other wood is 100% fine. Can anyone recommend a supplier of that curved wood member? Maybe a woodshop?

Also, the wood is wrapped with vinyl, which I am thinking of paining black to hide small defects.... the original seems to be a cream colour maybe due to age.... was the orinal colour white?

Andrew,

British Car Specialists <www.britishcarspecialists.com> should have the wood you need and the off-white vinyl (You're right .. it was originally a cream color). I think Healey Surgeons also sells the wood.

Cheers,
John

Hi Andrew, If you can not find a single piece source ,you can simply cut a cookie grove insert the cookie and glue it back together.Monkey glue will hold it.Fwiw---Keoke
