BJ8 chrome switch plate

I saw a switch plate with red and black paint in the engraved markings below the switches. What is proper? Mine have all been worn off.
Thanks

Nope TH, they are all white across the top and the "OD" one at the bottom is red.---Keoke

Thank you. Isn't it hard to see the white on chrome.

TH,
Here is a shot of the red & white. Being for an earlier model, the switch positions are reversed, but the colors are still red & white.

Hi TH,

Just want to point out that I've seen quite a few escutcheons with Red (overdrive) and Black (normal) colors and the Anderson/Moment book describes them that way for both the 100 and 3000 models. So hmmm... which is correct? Since my BJ7 plate appeared original and had reminants of black paint I refurbished mine like that (along with my OD avitar!).

edit .. the above observations apply for BJ7 and before models but for the BJ8 I've only seen them in White and Red.

Cheers,
John

Well all the BJ8 photos in Clausager's book show all white across the top? I been tellin you about that other book.--Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

This is one of those topics that only a hard core Healey nut would be concerned with.

Reading through the Clausager Book, the pics show red/black on the Hundreds, red/white on the 100-6 & 3000's, & red/white on the BJ8's.

The Anderson-Moment book shows red/black on the Hundreds, red/black on the BN4-BT7, & white/white on the BJ8.

The "official concours guide, 2005", appears to be silent on the subject.

Guess you can use whatever color suits you. If wrong it would only cause a one point loss in concours judging, & not many other folks will care. Guess I'll change my BN2 from red/white to red/black.

Well I did not concern my self with those other car models since we were concerned primarily With the BJ8. Having two of them in the garage, one of which is very close to original, with White Red Switch plates pretty much settles the argument for me.---Keoke

I hope you meant that as a compliment .. because I took it that way! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Anyway, I learned something new .. even if just a tidbit.

Cheers and Happy New Year to all.

Actually, the Anderson/Moment book had the right info and pictures for the BJ8 .. I just wasn't looking in the right place /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif As for Clausager .. nice pictures but most of those car have been fooled with! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
