My cables from the firewall to the carbs were binding and lost their original smoothness so I ordered a new set and was sent cables that I believe are bicycle cables. They do operate very smooth but the outer cable is “skinny” compared to the original and I want to add a black sleeve over it like the originals had plus it would help the fitting connections at the firewall.

does anyone have a source for the black plastic material? I tried drip irrigation material but the ID was too narrow.

Try Heat shrink tubing may work Patrick ??

I've just replaced mine with bike brake cables. I know what you mean about the thickness of the outer cable but I don't mind that. My cables had ferules at the ends which fit into the housings on the car at each end of the cable. The ferules were a little large so I had to shave them down a bit to fit into the housings on the car. You could buy the ferules separately at the bike shop I went to.

I installed set screws at the brackets on both ends of the cables - this promotes positive return of the choke levers without add-on springs.
A piece of scrap tubing forced over the bracket stub forms a seat for the metal inner cable housing.
