bj8 carburetor explosions

Hello,
when I start my bj8 in cold, and before it starts to run smoothly, when I accelerate some of the firing seems to happen in the carburetor, producing small explosions. ¿possible causes and fix?

Hi Jose,

If your chokes are working correctly, then it sounds like you may have an timing or mixture problem. When the engine is cold, it needs a richer mixture and a little more advance to run smoothly. If the distributor is not correctly set or the carbs are running a little on the lean side, you will get backfiring when the engine is cold. Check that your timing is set correctly and your carb mixtures are correct.
