BJ8 "B" Post Buffers

My Healey restoration is in the last lap (67 BJ8 III.) Finally, as both my wallet & wife are exasperated. My dilema is the location & mouting of the Buffers for the B post. Looks like a shaped rubber bumper with an angled metal attachement for mounting to the car.
Any input would be appreciated.

Anyone going to or particapting int the Grand Prix Festival at Wakins Glen in Sept?

They go in the drainage channel area and are supposed to create a seal at the bottom of the top frame where it meets the body. They are screwed to the body right behind the quarter panel finishing pieces. When the top is up, they will meet the bottom of the vertical wood trim piece. As with many things on these cars they don't work very well.

When you say "the quarter panel finishing pieces" I assume you mean the apholstered Viny covered panels that go over the inside wheel arches? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
 
NO! R&M, he means that part of the chrome trim ring which circles the hood. The bracket screws to it just behind the "B" post panel.---Keoke

Just got a price on putting on a new sun fast top. I'm provideing the top & all parts. Shop will take off old top, Paint top frame & install. Got a quote of $750.00. Does this sound about right?

Sounds like its in the ballpark. I had my Everflex top put on this past spring. The frame was painted and installed already and the cost was $500.

Thanks for the $$$ idea. I have had a few rough times with so called "craftsmen/experts" on this Healey. The Triumph was a cake walk as I did all work myself with the exception on the body & paint. It is tough to find people who care about quality workmanship. Even if you are willing to pay.

I'll be at Watkins Glen. Look for a BRG BJ7. Unfortunately I'll be with an MGA, B and C, but the people are nice. We're thinking of holding our own rally Friday morning. Sort of a breakfast club starting with breakfast and touring the area including some wineries. Staying at the Budget Inn in town.

Glad to hear someone from the Forum is aware of the event. Look for a 67 Mk III Red over Black Coves. We always stay at the Glenora Winery since it has opened. Plus the Glenora Ralley leaves from there on Friday morning.
