BJ8 - $125.00

I drove Muffy down to the bar a couple of days ago, and of course she became the topic of conversation. A friend of mine told me that he'd had a BJ8 since new up until about a year ago when he sold it for $125.00. It hadn't run in 10 years and had been sitting out in his yard rusting away. It was in sad shape, but still, a complete original one-owner car for $125? I guess good deals are still out there if you're in the right place at the right time.

Sitting outside untouched for the past ten (>10) years, it may've only been worth $125.00.

Isn't that where humidity was invented? :wink:
 
My car had been sitting out in the weather for 12 years in the snow and rain and I had to replace every flat piece of steel! I wish I only had to pay $125. 4000 hours later it is better than new.

My first Healey put me back $1500 that was about 1990.

johnny, my first healey was free, the dad of a girl a went to school with just tossed me the kees and said "its yours", also the last healey i got was not only free but its a 100m. that i recently sold, i wont talk about all the others in between. :whistle:

Remember paying $1200 for a 67 BJ8 in 1978 and it was actually a pretty nice car with no rust. Sold it 3 years later for $6000 and thought I was robbing the guy that bought it. Started me on a misadventure of 20 years with a MG TC until I finally got back into Healey's. Boy, wish I had never sold that red over black beauty !!!

Bought my first Healey, a 1954 BN2 wreck for $470CDN in 1960 when I was 19. Fixed it up and drove the you know what out of it for 5 years. Then it sat outside in the elements unmoved for 5 years. I sold in 1970, a "wreck" again, for $1,100 to a young man with good intentions. I saw the car one more time in 1977 when he drove by to visit with his fully restored magnificant 1954 BN2. Can't help but wonder how it's doing.

I was looking to purchase an old Ford truck about 10 years ago and although the farmer had already sold it, he happened to have a '57 BN4 out back. I saw the windshield frame through the trees and asked if it was a Healey. He said that it was and it had been parked since 1976 when the engine locked up. As we walked through the yard I asked him if he'd sell it and he said "Sure, how about $200?" I almost fainted! I calmly peeled off the cash and immediately called my friend with a rollback. Within an hour my new "parts car" was at my house! As Stu said, they ARE still out there!
