BJ7 windshield pillar

Hello - I have a question about the windshield pillar on the BJ7 I am putting back together. The pillar itself is chromed, but how about the riveted plate part (that attaches the pillar to the body). Is it also chrome? Painted? The pillars for this car have the plates painted black as shows in the photo.

Every one I've seen, both BJ7 and 8, are just plated.
