BJ7 Shut Panel Adjustment

I'm in the process of having my BJ7 repainted and while at it, I thought I'd have the missing Door Shut Panels installed. I ordered the set from Moss Motors, but the body shop tells me that they are about a quarter of an inch too wide. Is this usually the case? I've sent an email off to Moss Motors, but I have never got less than fantastic advice from you guys, so I have to ask. The painting project has revealed a fair amount of bodywork, so that could be the issue. Any comments?
Thanks,
Steve

Steve, are you refering to the aluminum trim pieces or the actual steel shut face panels??-Keoke

I recently replaced the shut panels on
my BJ8 as the older ones had been painted twice. I also recieved the set from Moss and the part that fits upright was also too wide even though they were curved on the inside where they fit against the body. And I merely marked where they shoul be and ground them down to fit.

OK Steve, Tell the body shop people to cut a short piece of broom handle {Dowell} and fit the radiused corners tightly. Then trim the panel to fit. Most of the time when the corner radius is corrected they will just about fit correctly.-FWIW---Keoke

I spoke with both Moss and Victoria British about the aluminum trim pieces. The vertical pieces were missing on my BJ8, and they only sell the 3 piece packages, and they're pretty expensive. Since I see these pieces come up on eBay from time to time, I was asking about whether they are standard size across all 3000s. They told me that BJ8 pieces were larger than than the BJ7 and earlier. I've had a number of problems with both companies with their pieces being just slightly off, enough that they take a substantial amount of work to make everything fit. It's not that I mind a little work, but some of this stuff is sufficiently expensive that it would be nice to get something that just fits out of the box.

You might consider importing. AH Spares lists just these pieces out of the set. Their parts list shows the BJ7 & 8 together. Others too may sell them individually.

SHG, That would be nice to get parts that fit right out of the box,but my experience says it ain't gonna happen.-FWIW---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Thanks again, The body shop I was dealing with had a guy next door that specializies in restorations and he is going to fit the shut panels. He had a 100-4 sitting on the floor and although 100-4's don't have the aluminum shut panels, I think I'm in good hands. Thanks for the input, I love this site.
