BJ7 Gearbox Parts

I am in the process of acquiring parts to rebuild my BJ7 gearbox. First gear, laygear, selectors, synchro and needle rollers are shot. I am wondering if I can replace the BJ7 style needle rollers with the BJ8 style caged needle rollers? Really for no other reason than the caged versions seem more modern, and may be easier to work with. My guess would be that the BJ7 and BJ8 have the same gearbox, but I am hoping someone with more knowledge can comment on this. As well, any comments on upgrading components, while I have it apart, would be appreciated. Thanks - Steve

I would suggest sending the gear box out for a professional rebuild.

NO! BJ7 & BJ8 gearboxes are not the same.
