BJ7 clutch slave sylinder question

A short time ago my BJ7 developed an issue where the clutch was slow to engage after releasing the pedal. I found that the fluid was a bit a low , so of course topped it off. Problem still there.

Assuming next that air may have gotten into the line, I bled the line enough to have refilled the resivor from half empty about 3 times. Still not better.

Work took me away for 2 weeks and upon my return the resivor is still topped off nicely (so no line leaks I would think).
Thinking I may have missed a bit of air, tried bleeding again. This time I noticed that it was the slave cylinder that is quite slow to return in and only once or twice I was sure I heard a sucking noise (my son also heard it once).

Assuming the steel lines are in good shape (no visible dmg or leaks) that only leaves the cylinders and possibly the little bit of hose that attaches to the slave cylinder.

I'm soliciting comments or suggestions before I go buy another slave cylinder. Thanks

It would bet (a pint of Guinness at least /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif ) that it is the rubber hose. The rubber can swell closing the inside dia. and restrict the flow of fluid. However, it would be an ideal time to take out the slave and master cylinders, do an inspection and put in a new rubber parts at the minimum (just don't let it lead to a full ground up restoration /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

Cheers,
John

Yeah Sprocket, it prolly is the hose. However, sometimes the problem with the hose is the wrong one has prviously been installed. The wrong hose is too short and subsqently kinks sometime after the cylinder is reinstalled.---Fwiw---Keoke

I'm hoping it's the hose too. Hopefully the afternoon Thunderstorms won't come today and I'll get a chance to get under the car and check it out....

OH BTW after looking at the Moss site, I don't seem to see the rubber hose in question. Does anyone have a source or part num for it?

More bad weather slowing me down....
