BJ7 Carburettor / Carburetor spacers

On the back of Gadwhites post for his BJ8 I was looking through the Gospel according to SC Parts to check on the spacers for the BJ8 as I have two spacers for each carb on the BJ7. It turns out that the Bj8 has only one - strange but true.

Then I found out that I have a 7mm spacer missing from the rear carb on my BJ7, it should be placed between the carb and the filter. The car works wonderfully without it, has any one any clues as to why it should be there?. When I first had the car both regular filters were attached so it can not be to avoid a clash of filters, I have since changed to trumpets.

As you were.

Forget this post, I had a flash of inspiration and of biblical proportions, an epiphany in fact, and had a look at the old filters, and there was the spacer, on the back of the rear one. Ergo it must be to avoid a clash, I can think of no other reason.

Please remember it was some 16 years ago when I took those filters off and the grey matter does not function so well these days - Doh! :wall:

Re: BJ7 Caburetta spacers

Isn't the rear spacer for the air cleaner to clear the frame rail?

Steve,

You are correct! Does anyone need one? I received one in a lot of old parts I purchased and I have no need for one. (Free to good home!)

PM me if interested.

Thanks,
Duane
