BJ -8 Exhaust Mounts

Intermediate Exhaust Mounts on my BJ8 frame failed (rubber separated from steel angle brackets)and inspection showed they appeared almost new.
Car is new to me, has Ansa exhaust, and on installing two new sets of rubber mounts they seemed to be under a lot of tension.
Is this typical? Unique to Ansa? Any suggestions?

Hi David,
If you haven’t, you may want to try loosening the exhaust up at the flex pipes. If you have slip joints, they may have twisted when the exhaust was hanging.

Any pressure put on the clamps and the rubber will eventually separate. You may have to do some modifying with either the bracket or the postion of the exhaust. The fit should be, must be, stress free.

Happy motoring!
Roger
