BJ 8 carb removal option ?

:p Of course i had no idea 3 mos. ago when the fenders were off that i'd be trying to service the carbs....so i read the 5 pages of 1/2 wrench shortening, wives with skinny arms...lighting a candle and saying a novena... would it not be just as efficent to remove the intake manifold with the carbs attached ? can it be done that way ? anyone ?
