BJ-7 Transmission Tunnel Removal

I am trying to remove my transmission tunnel in order to get at the clutch bleed screw (have air in the line) and after removing the 8 screws from the bottom, she's still on there tight. It being fiberglass I don't want to crack it forcing it off.

QUESTION: Are there any other fasteners besides the 8 screws that attach it to the floor?

I'm thinking my father (original owner) may have run a bead of caulk or something to maintain a dry seal with the interior. (Unfortunately, I cannot ask him as he's passed on...).

Any help appreciated....

Just the 8 screws but there should be seals on the front firewall area, rear drive tunnel and both flanges which may be sticking a bit. Try running a thin blade type tool under the flanges to break things loose and to cut any chaulk that may be there.

Cheers,
John

Hi Sprocket,It is not neccessary to remove the tunnel to get at the Slave Cylinder bleed screw. Simply jack the car up and unbolt the cylinder let it hang down and bleed it.---Fwiw---Keoke

OK, thanks for the info guys.

I did jack the car up that's how I found the slave cylinder /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Didn't think about unbolting it though. I'd rather not break any weather seals I don't have too so I'll back her out of the garage and throw it up on the stands again and take a closer look see.
