Birds in engine compartment [well, not really]

It sure sounds like there are a couple birds in my engine compartment- there is a high pitched squeaking sound which comes from the engine intermittently. Any thoughts on what might be causing this would be welcomed.

The noises are not tied to the car moving as they can happen right after startup when the car is still. However, they are more pronounced/louder when in motion (and especially over rough patches). The pitch or presence of squeaking noise does not appear to be tied to RPM (ie. can happen at varying RPMs and does not necessarily get progressively faster/higher pitch with engine speed). Otherwise, this is a well running but mostly original Healey.

My guess for cause of noise at this point is perhaps the rubber blocks in the engine mounting points but that's just a WAG. Your guidance is appreciated.

Well you might temporarily disconnec the fan belt and see if the squeek goes away-???--Fwiw--Keoke

HI!! zblu Yep, but it might also be a bad generator bearing or a retiring water pump.----Keoke

As Keoke says most likely a generator bearing, however, if the control box for the generator is getting over "excited" it squeals sometimes. (Can't believe I just said that) LOL.
