Bill M - Standup Guy

Just thought I would post about an experience I had with Bill Masquelier. I bought a used SCCR gearbox from him. This was one he inherited, I believe. Put in the H car for the first race at Summit Point of the season, and went to Friday practice - sessions 1: popping out of 2nd, had to hold it in. Session 2: it broke, big time. Input shaft and 3rd gear, 3rd and 4th gear shredded on layshaft. Sent Bill an email to let him know what happened. Now, I sent the email in the belief that racing parts are not under warranty, and used racing parts sold as is. This was not how Bill thinks, as he insisted on refunding the full price, which was not an insubstantial sum for someone running a LBC business. So please take this as a big shout-out for Bill M. I have never been so favorably impressed as by this case of a guy standing behind something he sold. Bill, if you see this, my deepest thanks.

BTW after the box broke I put the car on the trailer, had in my driveway at 8 pm Friday, had it back on the trailer at 3 am Saturday with a stock trans installed, and back to Summit Point I went. Ended up having another problem, so started Sunday from the back. Ended up being a good weekend.

Thanks for the input! Good to know there are some standup guys still out there.
And glad you had a good weekend. I'll be at the Jefferson 500 at Summit in two weeks.

BillM is definitely one of a vanishing breed.
He's just crazy for the LBC and really want to share, I for one am thankful I know Bill. He goes above and beyond the call and really takes the spirit of what it is to be a Spridget guy to a new level.
LBC people all over the Puget Sound region have been helped by Bill, whether he's helping you tow a new Sprite home or telling you about a parts car he learned about and then showing up with his tow dolly, or fixing up your 5 speed or working on your SU's or just sharing the knowledge he's gained over the years.

He'll be embarrassed to see all this, but sometimes the thing just has to be said.

BillM is indeed one of the good guys.
He is helpful, generous and commited to LBC's

Now, lets not praise him too much, we don't want it going to his head. ;o)
