After a tentative start a few weeks ago which ended because of coolant and fuel leaks, I got the car started properly this weekend.
It has not run since the crash which started this rebuild process in July 2004. I let it run for about 15-20 minutes, had the electric fan on when it got up to temp., all the instruments worked, headlights worked, right headlight blinked with the turn signal, no left turn signal, so basically pretty good.
I need to do a tuneup, but I put on a second accelerator return spring, no fuel or coolant leaks, all four pipes on the exhaust manifold got hot and no paint cooked off though there was a bit of smoke rising.
Now I have to finish sorting the electrics, some trim items, and reposition the bonnet.
Anyone have a suggestion how to move it further back? I have slid it back as far as the holes allow, do I just oval the holes further? The bonnet is from a different body but should fit better than it does as I cannot latch it.
All suggestions welcome!
Finally, I noticed the current draw from the fan pinned the ammeter on the negative side, and even my electric fuel pump made it read negative. Possibly I have no generator output, but could the calibration of the ammeter be off?
Thanks, Simon.
