I actually sold my first Spitfire, a 4 year old '72, Mallard Green and grey interior, to the advertising manager at CKLW...Doug somebody. I used to call him every couple of years to see how my Spit was doing. He sold it to someone that was going to make a race car out of it and take it to Waterford Hills Raceway. I wish there was someway to find either of those guys or my car. I want it back!

We ate lots of steak and kidney pie and drank plenty of Guiness on tap at the Girafe and at the Goat pubs on Kennsington. What a great trip. We were at the Goat, tipping a few the nite of the first show and were there as the show goers filterd in. Shared in the electricity, post show. Good conversation, good brew, some great people, great time.

Is it possible that we hang onto geriatric rockers and little British cars for the same reason: even though their era has passed, and they can be, frankly, pretty pathetic in some cases, there just isn't anything today that's equivalent? It's more than a nostalgia thing--it's simply that nothing else available new today provides the same indescribable experience.

But, then, maybe I'm way off base. I don't really remember the sixties; after all, if you remember the sixties, you weren't there.

I think you're onto something...I think each generation keeps hold of the things that were familiar when they were younger. I know that if I had not been exposed to a 1960 Jaguar XK150 as a boy, I'd probably not have the same affinity for these cars as I do.

PS: I remember the 60's fondly - I grew up in Germany as an Army Brat back then. At 12 years old, me and my best friend would spend a few Marks and literally travel all over the country on the train all by ourselves - unthinkable these days.

yup, i remember the 60's more then any other period of my life, and yes i tend to hold on to things from that time i.e i still have my original "woodstock" tickets and a bunch of pictures like this... me in the foreground.
