All my '74 - 77 concerts were in Virginia. I just remembered another one. Saw Mott the Hoople at the Kennedy Center (very posh small concert hall in DC) in '74. Forgot who the backup band was supposed to be but the lead singer was sick so the 'back up' to the back up band was some unknown band to us ... Aerosmith. wow .. they rocked.

Saw the Rolling Stones last year .. $150. It was worth it though as we were able to get right up to the stage.

I do wish I was able to go to some of the concerts in the 60's but I was too young. (in '74 I was 16-17).
 
Before they were famous I saw Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes at Imlay City High School, and The Bob Seger System at Fraser hockey land ( both in Michigan ) I remember the Seger concert must have been in 1970-1971 because I rode a 10 speed bike there as I was not yet of driving age.

Dang! We used to do that back in the '60s when the airlines used to offer the student-standby tickets, and I think the MOST I ever paid for a ticket back then was $5, if I couldn't sneak in the stage door!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/nopity.gif
 
In 1971 I saw Led Zep with Mountain as the backup band in Boston, MA. Ticket price was $12, which was a lot for the time, I thought.

It's the best live rock concert I ever saw. Both Mountain and Led Zeppelin were flawless, better live than on vinyl.

And of course, I couldn't hear for about two days afterward, ringing in the ears!

What a concert!

Wow! Funny, I had forgotten that!
The Kinks came to CCM about 3 months before I was hired, but I've heard people talk about it.


I've seen The Who (with Ron Wood), Pink Floyd, Eagles, Beach Boys, Heart, Foreigner, Iron Butterfly, The Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jethro Tull, Arlo Guthrie, Delaney and Bonnie, John Denver, King Crimson and others I can't recall right now.
Out of honesty, (rather than bragging rights) I'll admit I've seen Sly and The Family Stone, BeeGees and even The Four Seasons.

I'm a bit fuzzy on the venues and dates...some of those were in the '60s and early 70s. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I met ~Stanley Jordan~ when he played at our college.


The drummer from The Blue Oyster Cult lived down the street from me until a few years ago.

~Billy Hector~ is a local guy and I've seen him lots of times at ~The Stanhope House~ (near my house).
I've seen ~Pinetop Perkins~ there too.


As a teenager, I lived in the next town over from Freehold NJ so I had a lot of friends in that town. One of my Freehold pals, Gil, eventually went to college with me and we're still friends. He played in a little garage band with a guy named Bruce Springsteen. I remember hanging out with them. Both Gil and I have pictures of the band at that time (around '67 to '70-ish). I remember going to The Stone Pony when it was Mrs. Jay's
 
I saw The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, John Lee Hooker and Guns N Roses (all together) in Atlantic City in about 89 or 90. Probably about $150, cant find the stub. It was worth every dime.
 
- Emerson Lake & Palmer for less than one Pound in 72 (1st concert),
- Pink Floyd many times starting with the DSOM tour,
- Queen and Genesis (not together) in a club holding a couple of hundred people before they broke big,
- no way was I going to spend a pound to see the Police (got that one wrong),
- Robert Palmer when he was still in Vinegar Joe with his wife Elke Brooks,
- The Who (with and without Moon) many times starting in the mid 70's,
- Al Stewart,
- Hawkwind (when they were still cool),
- Black Sabbath (when Ozzy was still slightly intelligible),
- John Mellencamp (won 4th row tickets on the radio),
- Little Feat and Sensational Alex Harvey Band at a Who all day event,
- The Jam (my only punk concert),
- Ian Dury and the Blockheads,
- Eric Clapton,
- Jeff Beck,
- Ten Years After,
- Rod Stewart before he sold out and became a cabaret singer. I always regretted not seeing The Faces,
- Elton John before he sold out and became a cabaret queen
- Nils Lofgren and AC/DC at another Who all day event.

Still got some of the programs for these.

and many other bands at the small club that didn't make it big in the US
 
Just a off the wall and topic question- what and who would we pay to see now?? My son cajoled $75.00 out of me to go to the Baton Rouge CentroPlex and I could not tell you for WHO........... He didn't keep his ticket stubs...SAD & SORRY!!

I take back some of what I said about RP. On the way to work I heard Plant in a duet with Alison Krauss. What a good tune. Passed by the album on the racks at Target but I'll have to go back and get it now to see what the rest of the album is like.
 
I'll look for it again when I go shopping last minute for presents.
 
Saw the Kinks at Penn State for free in '80. Got back stage passes to boot. Also a world class hangover.
In '76 we paid $7.00 to see Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, and Steve Marriot. Stood on the floor directly in front of the speakers. Ears rang for three days.

The "best of the Kinks" two CD set, the Stones "Stickey Fingers" and "Let it bleed" are the main stays at the barn's cd changer.
Roofman, where @ in Detriot? Went to Warren Woods HS, saw the MC5, Ambouy Dukes, SRC & 2 other bands New Years Eve '70 at the Grande Ballroom, (best first real concert for me). Also saw Ted at eh Detriot Auto show doing his thing. Saw Comander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen at Wayne State's Tarter Field, probably a WABX concert. Remember WABX? Or CJOM? Or the CJOM toke whistle? Still have it. Drove to Tarter Field in my sister's boyfreinds TR4, it the "back seat"...
Went to the Cream reunion concert on May 3, '05 at the Royal Albert Hall, in London. What a great trip for me. Never been abroad. Great concert, Eric kept his ego in check and Jack and Ginger were great. Jack just beamed throughout the show...Ginger never missed a beat...

PBS runs a recording of that concert during their "pledge" weeks. Horsemits an' me were jumpin' around th' hovel like we wuz kids, when it first aired. GREAT show! Even just the snippets we saw.

My DEE-troit listenin' was CKLW. Back inna days of "Bearskin Rug". And Chicago's WLS, WKYC (now KYW) in Cleve-land... gor. Strange Brew, indeed.
