Big 6 Healey engine builder

No one ever responded after my last post. I really do want to know. At what point, that is, at what RPM does someone get 300 HP from a Healey 6 cylinder engine? And, what kind of torque does it make, over what RPM range? Does anyone out there have this kind of information they can share with us?

I don't know the exact torque figures but I was talking to Rinus Sinke at Silverstone on saturday. His yellow Healey is one of the fastest in Europe along with Jeremy Welch and Anders. They voluntarily restrict Rinus's car to 7500 revs but it has been to 8000.

I find the rules are a bit mixed up depending on the series. Some things are strict some there is more flexibility. For instance, steel cranks and alloy heads are accepted, aluminium radiators aren't. Alternators are, electronic ignition isn't. Alloy body panels are fine, although Rinus doesn't have them.
Torsion bars are not allowed but the car is running on Minilites which are not allowed at FIA events such as Spa and LeMans.

This year Rinus' car hasn't been accepted at the Le Mans Classic because it doesn't have any 'history'. A shame because it has been fastest Healey at the last two Le Mans!
 
...sorry, I shouldn't really have used the word 'fastest'. Let's not forget that the driver also makes a huge difference. However, Rinus' car is now driven by his son Jaap and he is FAST. He qualified 8th and fastest Healey against a whole raft of E-Types, Cobras, Mustangs etc with much bigger engines. Unfortunately Big Healeys are generally in classes where they have no chance of winning.
