Is a 1/4" 26 tpi tap the same as a 1/4 BSF tap? PJ

I may be wrong, but I think the pitch of the threads are different from imperial to BSF.

Thanks guys you answered my question. 55 degrees verses 60. I have some old 26 tpi taps but only a couple of bsf taps and was wondering if the pitch was the same. I need a 1/4" bsf tap which I'll have to purchase. :rolleyes2: PJ

Hmmm, British Tools & Fasteners are claiming their BSF taps are 26 tpi. A couple other distributors are claiming the same thing, BSF=26tpi! Confusing for sure. As of yet, no comparison of degree angle, 55 or 60 degrees. Doesn't make sense that a std BSF tap would more than one degree angle.

Just placed an order from Tracy Tools in the UK. Stuff I bought from them before was of a high quality and easy to deal with! (y) PJ
