Beautiful Day For a Drive

Please don't hate me but I wanted to share with you folks that I had a great drive this morning.

We have had a pretty wet December in Southern California, but today was clear and actually quite warm. Another Pacific storm is qued to come in late tonight, so time to make hay.

My home is a little more than 15 miles from Downtown L.A., but it is at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains. Not exactly the Rockies, but they do have peaks as high as 10,000 feet and they are in my backyard.

Anyway, I took about a 65 mile drive today, with only one stop sign... the picture below was taken of my BN7 at about 5,500 feet in elevation. The picture doesn't show how spectacular the vista truly was. In the foreground are the San Gabriel Mountains, beyond is the LA basin, then Long Beach Harbor (I could count the ships in the harbor, more than 50 miles away) and then in the distance the jewel of Santa Catalina Island.

I could easily see over 100 miles.....Breath taking.

I don't blame you one bit. If it wasn't for the salt I'd be out there in 25* weather.

To you SoCal boys,

As we who are forced to inhabit the frozen north, with only a faded memory of summer, and our toys nested on axle stands for the season that never seems to end, like to say...."May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your nose....."

LOL. and cheers from The Big Igloo,

DB

Went ice fishing today; the fish are biting well. No thought of taking a Healey for a drive, although that would be nice too.

Good for you Stetchit2! Yesterday's SoCal weather surely inspired a drive. We took to the coast for dinner in Laguna Beach. Thanks for sharing. Gonzo.

Only thing beautiful to drive today in Alberta is a snow machine. Enjoy your nice weather . I'll enjoy this -20C weather here as I've got outside work to do. No wind so nice working temp.
