Some of you may recall that I put a down payment on a 72 TR6 last fall. Well, I finally managed to scrape up all the dough and have her in my garage! While I have your attention, what are some meaningful differences between my previous car, a 79 Spit, and my new TR? I know it is a 6 cyl, is considerably more powerful, and they obviously look different....

A Spitfire is a car you pick up because you happened to be in the right place at the right time and got a good deal.

A TR6 is a car worth spending months after you lay down a deposit on scraping up the rest of the money to purchase. :yesnod:

I'd say that pretty much sums it up.
.

Spitfires are for small persons & tr's are for LARGE persons :winner1:.After being familier with both & after ALL is said & done thats the bottom line, lets face it.In reality the Spitfire(s)were for those that wanted the experience but could'nt afford the expense of owning a larger tr,jag, whatever. It was the car for the masses.Never again will their be a car with so much basic fun built-in. :nonod:
Actually the Spitfire was originally meant to shore up the British economy after the war & meant to satisfy the cravings of the GI's coming home :iagree:,they ALL loved the car.,So most ALL Spitfires were exported to the USA.The exchange rates really did help the Brits to.

Interesting point Ken, I'm on the on the south side of vertically challenged and I own a spit, my brother looks like big foot with a shave and he owns a TR6. While there is no doubt which car has more hamsters, both are great examples of pure driving fun.

I'll batten down the hatches in advance for this statement:

A 6 is something you buy when you cannot find a 4A IRS, a 250 or a 5 ....

Everyone Calm down, Just kidding.
You are lucky to have ANY LBC
Congrats!

...or a TR8!

Congrats from me, as well!

Now the fun begins!

A Spitfire is a sportscar.

A TR6 is a demonically possessed inherently evil machine that will rip out your soul, stomp on your spirit, spend ALL of your money and make you want to spend more, and leave you a blubbering mass of tissue in the corner of your garage as it attemps WORLD DOMINATION!!!

I disagree with the height thing. A friend of mine who is around 6'2" once owned a Spitfire and says he fit in it fairly well, as in leg room. He does not in a 6.

What part of PA?

I don't buy that.
I can stand in the middle of my garage blubbering just as well

You been talking to Tinster again about Crypty?

 :yesnod:  :yesnod:

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the link to that video. Last time I checked it was 'no longer available'. I'm in NE PA. I can't help but smile when I drive it. I loved my Spit, then sold it (for twice what I paid), and immediately regretted selling it. So glad to be back in the saddle.

Hey Hamburger Man! aka Dudly, you may want to be a bit more careful with your pointed barbs aimed at Sasquatch, he is a close neighbor of mine up here in the Pac. Nor-West. Your Spitty has plenty of hamsters... you just need to stand on the go pedal a wee bit more than you do.

Agreed both are great examples of pure driving fun!

Percy, I know your just trying to deflect attention.
You really think that because you drive a nice TR, have such a lovely family and home you've avoided suspicion? HA!

Why does everyone say I drive my Spitfire too slowly? Percy, the guy in the Hummer H1, the guy in the Suburban, the lady in the Escalade, that kid on his bicycle…. They all say so, cripes What am I doing wrong ?

Aren't Spitfires "shorter" too? I mean, from the ground to the top of window frame?

So your saying that I drive too short as well funny guy ?
