T-Series Best Technique to Clean a Canvas Top

My 48 TC's canvas top has what appears to be a water stain around the perimeter of the base of the top where it affixes to the car body.

What's the best way to clean the top and get rid of the stain?

Will that stuff also work on non-automotive applications (asking because I have a couple of very large actual canvas tents that I have never been able to find a safe way to clean)???
