Ignition switch. As I disasemled my original to replace the switch cover it became very obvous that mine was very abused at some point. Whats the best source for a replacment or do I just use one from Moss/VB? Are these of good quality? I'll also need the key and lock. Thanks for any tips.

Moss or VB seem to be about the only source. Might as well.

Assuming this is for your Bugeye--I just got a new switch and key/barrel from Moss and it seems to work just fine. The barrel doesn't stay in the switch as well as I'd like, but it works reasonably well.

Next time it comes out Drew, put a bit of WD 40 in there and wiggle things around, it is prob dry. A shot of WD 40 in the key slot helps as well. Also works great on house door locks and any kind of car locks or padlocks.

WD40 leaves a shellac type residue. How about "lock ease" graphite powder?

Lock ease great stuff.

The key comes out fine, actually. It more seems that the pins that hold the barrel in place are not quite as strong as they ought to be. Not a big deal, just something I noticed about the new lock barrel.

I just got an ignition switch for a "79 MGB I'l redoing for sale - from Moss - good quality & the key even matched the original key!

Actually I used liquid silicon in mine. Some stuff I had left over from the boat. But I have used WD 40 with excellent results over the long term, decades.

I just put one on my '71 (well actually you guys did it through my hands!) and I got it from Moss. Works really well, and like Tony said, the key matched the original.
