I have never made that particular trip, but if it was me, I'd go from Colo Springs northeast on US24 to Limon. CO. From there, pick up I-70 east to St Louis. From there, I-64 to Charlston West Virginia, then south on I-64 to Buckley WVa, but just south of Buckley, pick up I-77 south to Princeton where she'd pick up US 460 south to Christiansburg. Then I-81 east to Roanoke.
If she wanted to stay more on interstate, instead of turning onto US460 at Princeton, she could continue south on I-77 to I-81, then take I-81 on into Roanoke. (This is probably the best option if she'll be driving in possible winter conditions - keeps her more on the Interstate which is likely to be better maintained. Likewise, if weather is expected to be bad when she leaves C. Springs, she might want to head north to Denver and pick up I-70 there instead of US24 to Limon.
