Best potato chips ever

I do like the Cape Cod chips, too.

.

Somthin changed above, I''ve had my fill of chips.

You lost me, maybe that's my fault. If it was in reference to what I said, I was agreeing with you. Things that don't have salt taste like...

Best part of this forum IMHO. This is my daily prayer: "Dear Lord, please help me to focus.... Oh look a butterfly."

I like cheese.

Which is of course ironic as we had exactly the same response living down south, where, other than Barbeque it wasn't just that stuff tasted like spackle, it was spackle (grits/ chicken fried gravy/ etc. etc.) One of the greatest surprises we experienced living there was that it was almost impossible to even find fresh fruit vegetables of any description. (True story, we met the food critic for the Orlando Sentinal and asked where to find fresh fruit and veg & she sent us to Super Walmart!)

You do realize Florida is "up there" down here, right? Florida is a state that consists of citizens from other states. I think the hardest thing to find in Florida is someone who is actually from there. While Florida is the southern most state, it is by no means "southern". The only reason the food in N.O is good is because it was/is a major port city. You had stuff coming in from not only the whole country, but the world too. The best soil I've ever seen is in the city of N.O too. It's amazing what you can grow there on a lot the size of a large closet. I think Florida soil might not be suited for anything other than citrus. I know around Sebring growth looked really scrubby so that's gotta say something.
The stuff around here isn't great either. it requires more work to get right than I care to do.

You're absolutely right, from what I've seen from my sis, good stuff is hard to find in Florida. She's been there almost twice as long as she's been here. She doesn't cook like she should. Kitchen staples she should have are absent. I don't know if that's because she can't find them or local cuisine has ruined her. You're hard pressed to find a proper snowball there too which should be inexcusable given the climate. That's not because of flavor but proper texture is absent. Who wants ice flakes in syrup? It's so bad by her, she considers a coke Icee a delicacy.

....an Icee...if the US government issued a frozen treat, it would be the coke Icee...

Poor sis, look what they've done to her..

No "spices" for me, that stuff is all like eating plastic, IMO.

I'm not a spice guy either whatever it may be. Even salt can be overdone. That's the thing about these, someone finally got flavor into chips without overdoing it. Not only that, they have the a good thickness too. I find most things sold as "chips" are actually shavings if they retain any original structure at all. IMO chips should snap, not crumble.

I've never seen that before. We've been on a big solid cheese kick lately. She came home with some gouda that was incredible. There's an Amish onion one that is great too. I've never been a big cheese guy but I'm leaning more and more that way. I'm not from a cheese family. "Cheese" was this limp, yellow membrane that had to have it's body bag removed before mom could put it on your sandwich. Well, that and something made from a pigs head.

Where I live, we have the best pizza.
And the best bagels.

And Yuengling is a local brew.

The Portuguese and Brazilian restaurants in the Ironbound section are amazing.

And it's also not a real far drive to get Maryland crab cakes.

Not sure how I'd classify potato chips......but would not call them "food". :friendly_wink:

Unfortunately, seeing pizza can't be found in the wild it's tough to find a good pie down here. There's one place in N.O that does a good job but that's about it and it's not pizza in it's natural form. While GCP are present somewhat, bagel choices are usually left to whatever is bagged on the shelf. It's a shame too as I like a good bagel.

I've never had Brazilian or Portuguese before, is that anything like Cuban? Cuban food scares me. Kelly order ox tail once at a Cuban place and if we had still been dating that would'a been it. I can't handle spinal cord starin' up at me, ewwwwww, CREEPY!
