Any suggestions. As I tuck it away for the Winter, aside from some work on it here and there, it is gonna just sit. What is the best trickle charger to maintain the battery.

Hi Eric, IMOP VDC Electronics Battery Maintainer is one of the best. It contains a patented Desulfation capability that will extend the battery life as well as regenerate some sulfated older ones.---Fwiw--Keoke

I bought one from JC Whitney a few years ago. I use it every winter and it has never let me down. Inexpensive and reliable. Check it out:

How "U" tell when winter come? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif You should keep it on the battery when ever the car is not running even if only for a few days.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Keoke - I know when winter comes because the outside temperature drops by 5 degrees and my wife no longer wears white :>) Last year I took the cars out every month but February. (See attached winter view from my deck) Sorry East Coasters.

Drive it every chance you get when it is warmer drier.

I've been real happy with the battery maintainer made by Schumaker battery products only chargers 1/2 amps and shuts off when a full charge is reached .Mark

On the other extreme, the el-cheapo float-charger units from Harbor Freight also work quite well. With any trickle charger you should take a look at the fluid level in the cells periodically just to be safe.

Starting the car every couple of weeks is a good idea anyway just to keep the scuz from forming in/on the carb parts as the gas gets old.

I've had two Schumacher chargers in the same number of years. Niether one worked and I bought two batteries as a result. Needless to say, I woundn't buy another.
