Bell Housing Oil Seal Mystery

Soooo.... can someone tell me the secret code for removing the bell housing oil seal (replacing the spiral seal with a rubber one). I have the little pin out, but am now stuck.

I have contemplated using brute force, cunningly applied, to the end of the shaft but I think that's probably not the intended way.

All of my many manuals seem to be silent on the subject.

As usual, your assistance would be appreciated.

Wait, so do you have a "scroll seal" or an actual rubber seal in your transmission? One of my transmissions was from a spitfire, and consequently had an actual rubber seal. The one I traded in for it had a scroll seal, which is actually just a series of grooves.
 
The bell housing from my original transmission had the "spiral" oil seal, including the shaft and plate. The rebuilt transmission (a later one) needs the rubber seal, which came with it, including the shaft, plate and pin. So my problem is how to get that mechanism out of the old bell housing, and then replace it with the new one.

I have unravelled the mystery about removing and replacing the seal.... I took the bell housing to our local MG mechanical shop and they did it for me on their press in five minutes for five dollars..... What a Concept!!!!
